On December 23, 2022, the Fiscal Year 2023 Spending Bill was approved by Congress to support the federal government through September 30, 2023. The “Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act,” which was included by lawmakers, has crucial features that will help the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) better enforce its regulations of cosmetic and personal care items.

I joined Beautycounter’s team because I’m passionate about my health, my family’s health and my neighbor’s health, and frankly, I found it shocking and totally ridiculous that there wasn’t more oversight on the beauty industry.
Most companies want less oversight and regulations on their industry. Not Beautycounter. Working along Beautycounter since 2020 has opened my eyes to the geopolitical, environmental and human rights issues associated with my purchases.
Currently, the regulation of cosmetics in the United States is governed by the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act), which was enacted in 1938. The Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act would make significant changes to the FD&C Act, including:
The goal of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act is to improve the safety of cosmetics products and provide consumers with greater transparency and information about the products they use.
